Kanuni Kayan
Based in the Netherlands, I've always had an interest in both the creative and technical side of things. Having grown up with movies and video-games, I learned the joys of telling a story through writing, visuals, or even interactivity. And in doing so, I learned to efficiently communicate my ideas and visions with the audience.
After I completed Harvard's CS50 course, the world opened up with possibilities for me, as I could now build whatever I wanted. With my creativity, I could design programs in a way that pulls people in. With my technicality, I could make it functional and offer a smooth and useful experience.
A history of competitive sports and video games have taught me strategic thinking and teamwork. While a strong player has great impact on results, combining that with efficient team-play allows for something even more incredible.
My studies in today's mental health issues have allowed me to learn patience and kindness, while also teaching me how to actively listen to others, and understand the core of what they are trying to get across. This translates perfectly to every part of my life, as it has always been helpful to get on the same page as the person you're talking with.
I hope that in the future I can keep combining these experiences to build something worthwhile and helpful to people. Whether it solves an existing problem, solves a problem in advance, or something that offers a new experience to people; building something and seeing it work is something I will always feel proud of. And I hope to be doing it in a team with like-minded people soon.
